Oracle Buys Security Startup Zenedge To Boost Cloud Platform
Oracle purchased Security Startup Zenedge to boost its already strong cloud security platform, following the intends to develop twelve new data centres around the world.
The procurement, the subtle elements are not disclosed, is a piece of Oracle’s endeavours to get up to speed to cloud framework pioneers including Amazon, Microsoft and Google.
Zenedge, established in 2014, gives Oracle Web Application Firewall (WAF) and denial-of-service protection technology that can shield cloud, on-premises or hybrid enterprise environments.

It operates a security operations monitoring centre for customers and currently guards 800,000 websites and networks around the world. Zenedge has raised $13.7 million (£9.7m) to date.
Oracle said Zenedge clients could keep on using their present contacts at the organization and that it intends to put resources into building the startup’s infrastructure services.
An industry analyst said the arrangement, alongside moves prior a week ago to quickly work out its scope of data centres and to extend automation, are proposed to separate it from bigger contenders.
“Oracle would like to draw nearer to having the capacity to directly offer far-reaching security protections to applications that are facilitated in (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure),” said 451 Research in a note on the deal.

The new facilities are to be set up in Asia, Europe and North America – particularly China, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and South Korea in Asia and Amsterdam and Switzerland in Europe, with a further two in Canada and two in the US for military workloads.
At its CloudWorld occasion in New York, Oracle likewise said it would grow the utilization of automation on its Platform as a Service, moving it past databases to a scope of zones including security.
Oracle said it would utilize its Cloud Platform Autonomous Services to make all administrations on the platform self-driving, self-securing and self-repairing, utilizing artificial intelligence to automate functions, for example, tuning, patching, backups and upgrades.
Besides security, Oracle said it would apply the autonomous technology to application development, app and data integration and analytics, as well as mobile services and automated bots.
